Auditions

Process & Timing

The Performing Arts Department holds auditions at the beginning of each academic year for all shows in the Drama season, Wash U Dance Theater, and Wash U Dance Collective.   However, for the 2020-2021 academic year, Drama is only auditioning the fall shows now and will re-audition for the spring shows either at the end of Fall Semester or beginning of Spring Semester.

Auditions are usually held in the first week or two of classes, and are run separately by the Drama and Dance divisions.

PAD Policy on Diversity and Inclusion in Casting

The Performing Arts Department is committed to diversity, inclusion, and equity on stage, backstage, and in the classroom. We welcome all Washington University students to audition for our seasons, including those with a lot of theatre experience, and those with none at all. In order to increase opportunities for underrepresented groups and to fulfill our educational mission, all students are considered for all roles, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, or ability, unless a script explicitly calls for roles to be cast in a certain way. In these cases, we honor the playwright’s expressed intentions.
