"General Store," set design by Rob Morgan
This 2017 world premiere play by celebrated playwright Brian Watkins was produced at a theatre that is quickly on the rise in national prominence for producing new works by emerging artists: Creede Repertory Theatre in Creede, Colorado. General Store is set in a small highway convenience store in Eastern Colorado and is about a store owner trying to stay alive as a business when that business is all he has in life and all he has to pass down to his daughter. He is willing to believe - and do - anything to save his failing business from the threat of large-scale competitors out to destroy his livelihood. And the walls (literally) begin to cave in on him towards the end.
