Julia Walker's "Performance and Modernity" shortlisted for the MSA Book Prize

Julia Walker's "Performance and Modernity" shortlisted for the MSA Book Prize

The Modernist Studies Association Book Prize is awarded to the book from the previous year that made the most significant contribution to modernist studies. "Performance and Modernity: Enacting Change on the Globalizing Stage" is one of just six entries to make the list.

How do ideas take shape? How do concepts emerge into form? Julia's book argues that they take shape quite literally in the human body, often appearing on stage in new styles of performance.

"Performance and Modernity has all the electricity of a lightning bolt. Brilliantly reimagining performance in light of the technological, representational, and ontological crises of modernity, this book provides a breathtaking history of performance that is both truly global and shockingly new."- MSA Nomination 2022

Join us in congratulating Julia and rooting for her continued success with the MSA Book Prize.
